Lunarian Alve

Below, you will find the information and history of the Lunarian Alve race, as known to the scholars in the 14th Age, where A Tempest Season currently takes place.

Description

The Lunarian Alves, an enigmatic race residing on the moons of Eihydia, captivate all who encounter them. Measuring between 6 feet to 7.5 feet in height, their lithe frames belie their true power, even though they possess a strange hunchback. Instead of physical strength, they are distinguished by their keen intellect, boundless compassion, and exceptional wisdom, a result of their prolonged exposure to the moons’ mystical energies. This inherent intelligence and profound wisdom, combined with their deep connection to lunar energies, allow them to excel in the arcane arts, holy ceremonies, and rituals of various kinds – both Lunar and Blood, solidifying their status as a truly mesmerizing and extraordinary race in the cosmos.

Lunarian Alves possess a mesmerizing array of eye colors, reflecting their celestial heritage. Their eyes can range from various shades of purple, including dark and light tones, to the enchanting violet hue. Some may have captivating silvery-blue eyes, reminiscent of the starlit night sky. A rare few may even exhibit intriguing red, green, or a striking combination of red and green eyes, further emphasizing their otherworldly nature.

The hair colors of Lunarian Alves are as diverse and ethereal as the celestial bodies they are connected to. Shades of blue dominate their palette, ranging from light to dark hues, with some even having shimmering or pale blue locks. Their hair can also be silvery or platinum, adding a touch of otherworldliness. Some Lunarian Alves have hair colors inspired by the moons they revere, such as Honestus red and Amor green, with variations like fire red and bright green. Lastly, a few may possess luminous or pure white hair, evoking an aura of celestial purity.

History

The Lunarian Alves, enigmatic beings with a history as ancient and mysterious as the cosmos itself, have always had a deep connection to the moons of Eihydia. Before the era of the Ancients, they inhabited the moon Amor, and possibly Honestus as well. Their peaceful existence, however, was disrupted by the cataclysmic event known as the Great Destruction.

Seeking refuge from the devastation, the Lunarian Alves fled to the surface of Eihydia and may have even ventured to the moon Honestus. They managed to adapt and survive in these new environments, demonstrating their resilience in the face of adversity. The Lunarian Alves went into hiding, their presence on Eihydia becoming little more than a whispered legend.

Their connection to the moons, particularly Amor, is well-established, while their presence on Honestus remains shrouded in uncertainty. It is known, however, that Honestus was the site of a great cosmic battle, and immense power still resides there to this day.

Since the dawn of time, the Lunarian Alves have developed a unique relationship with the celestial bodies they inhabit. Their long lifespans are punctuated by periods of stasis, during which they enter a state of suspended animation. The age of a Lunarian Alve represents the length of time they can remain active before another stasis is required, hinting at the potential for immortality among their kind.

As the Lunarian Alves continue to reside on the moons, their wisdom and arcane knowledge grow ever deeper. Their presence on Eihydia serves as a testament to their resilience and adaptability in the face of cataclysmic events, while their mysterious origins continue to captivate those who encounter them.

Personality

Lunarian Alves possess a personality that reflects their enigmatic origins and close connection to the celestial bodies. Often perceived as wise and introspective, they harbor a wealth of knowledge gleaned from their long existence on the moons. Their demeanor is typically serene and contemplative, giving the impression of beings who have witnessed the unfolding of the cosmos. However, this wisdom comes with a heavy burden, as the weight of the secrets they carry and the haunting memories of the Great Destruction bear down on their souls, lending a bittersweet poignancy to their eternal existence.

Despite their tranquil outward appearance, the Lunarian Alves are also fiercely loyal to their kin and their unique lunar heritage. They are passionate about protecting the secrets of their race and the arcane arts they have cultivated. Their experiences have imbued them with a deep understanding of the intricacies of life, and they approach situations with a blend of patience, insight, and adaptability.

In social interactions, they may appear reserved, but this should not be mistaken for aloofness, as they form deep connections with those they trust, revealing a warmth and complexity that belies their mysterious nature. Through these relationships, the Lunarian Alves find solace and share the weight of their memories, forging a sense of unity that transcends the challenges of their immortal lives.

Racial Tensions

Lunarian Alves have racial tensions with Dwarves and Disorains who they regard as reckless devourers of the land. At times, with Indagos, who they come into clash at times for their insatiable use of magic. Additionally, Lunarian Alves find Gremlins as cute little creatures and can easily ally with Cryinale Elves, Amphorians, and Varconians. Lunarian Alves have been known to enter into close romantic relationships with Trelorians.

Homeland

The Lunarian Alves, once native to the celestial realms beyond Eihydia, now find themselves without a true homeland. Following the Great Destruction, they sought refuge on Eihydia, carrying with them the memories of their celestial origins and the mysterious lunar energies that once shaped their existence.

Their original sanctuaries on the twin moons, with lush cityscapes on Amor and cosmic energy on Honestus, have been left behind as the Lunarian Alves adapted to life on Eihydia. The fate of these celestial havens and the knowledge of their past is a closely guarded secret, known only to the Alves. Sharing any information regarding their past and the remnants of their lunar homes is a deeply personal decision, reflecting the burden of the secrets they carry and the eternal connection they hold with the moons that once nurtured them.
