Ability Point Guide

Raising Abilities can be a tough, costly and time consuming endeavor, but this short guide will hopefully shed some light on the process and make things easier for you.

For most skills in the game the best way to raise them is to use them over and over until they are ready to be trained to the next level at a trainer with a tier point. Weapon skills will gain uses every time you land a hit on an enemy, Armor skill will rise very time you are hit (and wearing the appropriate armor). And your Defensive Maneuvers skill will gain uses every time you dodge a blow. These are by far the easiest of skills to level up and will rise steadily without you paying them any special attention.

Other easy skills to raise are your class specific skills that you use regularly, like the pickpocket skill for rogues, or preach skill for clerics, but these require a little more work on the part of the player, and a little patience; if you put in the effort though you will be rewarded with more powerful characters.

Some skills in the game are harder to raise just by using them, and are generally not worth the effort to raise normally, skills with a high re-use timer, or that have initially a very low success rate. These are prime candidates for the ability points you’ve been gaining per mob kill, and by levelling up, quest rewards and some skills reward you with ability points too.

To use your ability points you can go to a trainer and type ‘practice list’ to see what skills are available for you to spend your points on. Each skill will have a number right next to it. You will need to know this for when you use the ability points. Your next step then is to type

practice <skill number> <ability points>
