The New Merchant District Sneak Peek: The Green Vest

Post by Actinate » Tue Jul 14, 2015 2:39 pm

Hello everyone! I wanted to keep you all in the loop regarding some new item updates! We'll start with the Green Vest, Tralisia's overpriced clothing store.

We know that how you present yourself is important to your character and your role-play. It's hard to do this when cosmetic role-play items cost so much. Here is what we are going to do.

1. Reduce the number of unnecessary/repeating type items in the Green Vest to make it less overwhelming (don't worry though, other shops will sell their specific brands/styles of clothing).
2. We are lowering the cost significantly on clothing. We want you to buy clothes and wear them! If you're choosing between buying a pair of pants and a sword, you'll choose the sword for obvious reasons. Expect costs for RP items and whatnot to decrease significantly with the new district.
3. We are introducing specialized dynamic items. Below is a sneak peek of one.

>look self
Actinate is carrying the following items:
Your Inventory:
[ 1 ] a floor-length black cloak with white badger fur trim

>look cloak
You look at a floor-length black cloak with white badger fur trim...
It protects the wearer against the elements and invokes an authoritative presence.

(This item is sold with a hood. Type 'activate cloak' to receive the hood. Subsequent
activations of this item will alter the cloak's appearance).

Bonuses:
1. Weather Immunity
2. Charisma +1
3. Ice Defense (5-10)

^^^ In the above example, this cloak comes with a matching hood. To get the hood, you activate the cloak (example below). Additionally, the cloak carries some bonuses (not all clothes do, but some will). In this case, the cloak offers ice damage mitigation effects, adds +1 to Charisma, and makes you immune to weather. The weather immunity is not currently implemented, but this is preparation for future updates. In the new district, you will see examples and other items hinting to future updates; weather is one of them.

>wear cloak
You place a floor-length black cloak with white badger fur trim on your shoulders.

>look self
[ Cloak ] a floor-length black cloak with white badger fur trim

^^^New wear slots!

>activate cloak
You pull a black hood with white badger fur trim over your head.

>look self
[ Hat ] a black hood with white badger fur trim
[ Cloak ] a floor-length black cloak with white badger fur trim

^^^No equip required! The hood auto equips!!! For customization, you can simply just remove the hood and put it in your bag or whatever.

>look cloak
It protects the wearer against the elements and invokes an authoritative presence.

(Type 'activate cloak' to change the appearance of this item).

Bonuses:
1. Weather Immunity
2. Charisma +1
3. Ice Defense (5-10)

^^^Here we see the only difference is that you can no longer activate it to gain a hood. The hood is sold with the cloak as an item. Additional activations of this cloak will change its appearance to your liking.

>activate cloak
You changed the appearance of a black cloak with white badger fur trim to a black cloak with blood-stained badger fur trim.

^^^The room sees a different message than this. This is just a confirmation that you changed the cloak.

>look self
[ Hat ] a black hood with white badger fur trim
[ Cloak ] a floor-length black cloak with blood-stained badger fur trim

^^^As you can see, the cloak is now blood-stained, and...

>look cloak
You look at a floor-length black cloak with blood-stained badger fur trim...
It protects the wearer against the elements and invokes an authoritative presence.

(Type 'activate cloak' to alter its appearance).

Bonuses:
1. Weather Immunity
2. Charisma +1
3. Ice Defense (5-10)

^^^...it retains its original bonuses. This allows you to customize your character's appearance without being penalized. What if I don't want it to be bloody though? What if I wanted it to look like something else?

>activate cloak
You changed the appearance of a black cloak with blood-stained badger fur trim to a torn and tattered floor-length black cloak with dirty badger fur trim.

>look self
[ Cloak ] a torn and tattered floor-length black cloak with dirty badger fur trim

^^^Now I have a different look for a different situation. Unfortunately, Mavis has invited us to dine with him, but I'm required to look my best. What now!!!?!?!?!?! No problem! Just activate again...

>activate cloak
You changed the appearance of a torn and tattered floor-length black cloak with dirty badger fur trim to a black cloak with white badger fur trim.

>look self
[ Cloak ] a floor-length black cloak with white badger fur trim

^^^... and you're back to normal!

We're GEARING up to show you all something special in the next update ;)
COFFEE TIME FOLKS! Gotta build the game!
